Your target annual retirement spending — the point you choose to test inside your Shape.
The Sketch uses geometric compounding. Your savings grow along three steady paths — conservative, baseline, and upside — at 1.5%, 3.5%, and 5.5% a year above inflation, anchored to long-run averages. They form your Estimated Floor, middle projection, and Estimated Ceiling. Every figure is in today's dollars, and each boundary sets aside a flat 8% for taxes. Market outlook, inflation, and your actual tax rules are modeled in the Studio by the full engine.
Plan-Through Age sets how long the money has to last. It's the one input that isn't about how hard your plan works, but how long — and it reshapes everything downstream. A shorter retirement means each dollar covers fewer years, so the same capital safely supports more spending: your Estimated Floor, Estimated Ceiling, and target all rise. A longer retirement spreads the same capital thinner, and all three settle lower. Set it to the age you genuinely want to be covered through — it's an honest assumption, not a dial to make the numbers look better.
Before a Reveal, your Floor and Ceiling are quick estimates. Your Estimated Floor assumes cautious growth and a lower withdrawal rate. Your Estimated Ceiling assumes strong growth and a higher one. Your Spending line is different: it shows the savings your spending would need, using the 4% rule as a simple yardstick, and it moves with your plan-through age like the other two. So the three lines answer three plain questions: how low it could go (Floor), how high it could reach (Ceiling), and what your spending costs in savings (Spending). Reveal your Range to test them. Your tested Floor is the most you can spend and still get through the stress histories your Load Test asks for. Your tested Ceiling is the most you can spend while, on average, 90 of every 100 planned dollars still arrive.

How this works ▾
This is not just a Social Security benefit estimate. The Studio tests each claiming path against your current accounts and spending target to see how timing affects the whole retirement structure.
Delaying both benefits usually creates the largest monthly check, but it also forces your portfolio to carry more years alone. Starting earlier can reduce that pressure — sometimes enough to support more spending overall.

The Systems Panel
Every system terminates at one panel. The Estate has been built, pressured, and conditioned. Before Monte Carlo runs, this is the specification the engine reads — one transparent control panel for the people, balances, benefits, policies, market assumptions, and machinery behind the Range.

HOW YOUR PROJECTION IS CALCULATED
The simulation engine relies on the exact coordinates you provide. Core structural metrics—Age, Retirement Horizon, Spending target, Tax Rates, and heavily-weighted assets (401k, IRAs, Pensions)—directly calibrate the thousands of market scenarios in your projected Range. Liabilities map your Net Worth, but do not dictate the survival rate. Calibrate your inputs truthfully to generate a structurally sound projection.
We see your inputs only long enough to compute your plan. We store nothing. We sell nothing.
LEGAL FIREWALLCapital housed within this wing is legally decoupled from the primary Estate. It is immune to core structural collapse, shielded from standard liability modeling, and designated exclusively for generational transfer.

ESTIMATED CEILING TENSION
This move lowers your Estimated Ceiling — the best your plan can support if markets cooperate. At 30% you're trading away some upside. At 60% the strong-market path now tops out much lower.

ESTIMATED FLOOR TENSION
This move lowers your Estimated Floor, what you could spend if growth is cautious. At 30%, your safety margin is getting thin. At 60%, it has dropped sharply.

SPENDING TENSION
You're pulling your target higher than your discovered position. At 30% the upper paths still carry it. At 60% you're approaching or past the Estimated Ceiling — the plan needs stronger inputs to support this lifestyle across modeled outcomes.

Across 40,000 modeled paths — 10,000 from each of four market engines — the simulation resolves the spending line and its upper band. The Floor is set separately by the five-scenario stress battery. Together they reveal the tested Range, distribution, and tax drag.
